STREAMQ

FAQ'S

How do I install the app?

You can find the app on both the Apple App Store (for iOS) and Google Play Store (for Android). Open the store app and search for ‘Bayan Audio StreamQ’. Tap to download the app. Accept any permissions that the app may need. You may also need to enter your password before the download will start.

Tap the icon to launch the app once it has finished downloading and installing.

Why can’t I see my speakers?

Your phone/tablet must be connected to the same WiFi network as your speakers in order for them to be visible within StreamQ.

If the speakers are not switched on they will not be visible within StreamQ.

If the speakers are switched on, and you are connected to the same WiFi network and the speakers are still not visible, quit and re-open the app.

If, after trying all of these things, the speakers are still not visible, please contact technical support.

Why can’t I see my music?

StreamQ will search through your phone’s storage to find any music that can be played through the system. This means that if you have music that is stored on a ‘cloud-based’ service (such as Spotify or Apple Music) the song will not be visible.

How can I group speakers together?

It is possible to group your speakers together in StreamQ. View the speaker list by either pressing the ‘Select a Speaker’ button in the main menu, or by tapping the word ‘Speakers’ at the top of the screen.

Next, tap ‘Create/Edit groups’. You will now be shown a list of your available speakers and, if you have any, groups of speakers. Tap ‘Create’ next to one of your speakers then select the other speakers you want to group it with by ticking their boxes. Press ‘Save’ to confirm the selection and you are ready to use your new grouped speakers.

You can remove speakers from a group using the same method. Instead of pressing ‘Create’ on an individual speaker, you can press ‘Edit’ on a group of speakers. You can then add or remove speakers by ticking or unticking their boxes. Pressing ‘Save’ will confirm your changes and adjust the group.

If you untick all of the speakers in a group and press save, the speakers are ungrouped and will all be separated.

How can I create a playlist?

To create a playlist of songs stored on your phone/tablet,  first go to ‘Playlists’ in the main menu. You should then press ‘Create New Playlist’, enter a name for the playlist, then press ‘Save’. You will now have an empty playlist ready to filled with music!

You can add songs to your new playlist by long-pressing on their names,  selecting ‘Add to Playlist’, then tapping on the name of the playlist you wish to add the  song to.

How can I see the play queue?

The queue is a list of songs to be played for each speaker or group of speakers. At any time, you can see which songs are currently in the play queue by swiping the screen from the right.

It is important to understand that the play queue is the list of songs to be played on each speaker (or group), not the list of songs to be played on your phone/tablet. This means you may see a different queue of songs depending on which speaker you currently have selected on your phone/tablet.

How can I change the volume?

Open the Player screen while a song is playing by tapping the small ‘^’ arrow on the mini-player at the bottom of the screen. You can then use the slider at the bottom of the Player screen to change the volume. If you have a group of speakers playing the song, tapping the volume slider will open a list of volume sliders. These sliders control the volume of each individual speaker in the group.

How can I change the name of my speaker?

You can change the name of a speaker by going to the ‘Speaker Settings’ page on the main menu. You will be shown a list of the speakers currently connected to your network. Select the speaker that you wish to rename  buy tapping on it. The next screen will display information about the speaker including the strength of the WiFi signal, the current firmware version, and the name of the speaker. Tap on ‘Name’ and enter a new name for your speaker. Press ‘Ok’ to confirm your changes.

How can I use a music streaming service (Spotify, Napster, AllPlay Radio, etc.)?

There are many Music Streaming Services that are compatible with our WiFi speakers. In StreamQ, tap the ‘Streaming Services’ button on the main menu to see a list of compatible apps. Tapping on one of the Streaming Service apps will either open the app (if it’s installed on your  phone/tablet), or open the relevant page on the App Store or Play Store.

Why does my music stop when I create a group?

Your music might stop playing when you create a group because of how you created the group. For example, you are listening to a song on your speaker in your kitchen and you wish to group it with your speaker in your living room. If you tap ‘Create’ in the Group Management page in StreamQ on the living room speaker, rather than the kitchen speaker, the music playing in the kitchen will stop. This is because creating a group tells all of the speakers you select to play the music that the speaker you pressed ‘Create’ on was playing. In this example, the kitchen speaker is told to play whatever the living room speaker is playing; which is nothing, so the music stops. If you had pressed ‘Create’ on the kitchen speaker, the music would continue with no problems.

Why does my music stop or stutter?

There are several possible causes for your music to stop or seem to stutter or skip:

-        If you are playing music from a service such as Spotify, Tidal, or Deezer, you may encounter pauses and stuttering if your internet connection is not stable, or if your internet bandwidth is not high enough. Problems with streaming services can also occur if the streaming service itself is experiencing problems. You can usually check this by visiting their website and looking for service outages.

-        If you are playing music stored on your phone or tablet via StreamQ, pauses and stuttering can occur if the devices’ CPU is overburdened. This can sometimes be solved by closing other programs and processes that are also running on the device.

-        WiFi interference can also cause playback problems. Please see the relevant FAQ ‘How can I reduce wireless interference?’ below.

How can I reduce wireless interference?

Interference on your WiFi network can have many sources including microwave ovens, satellite dishes, poorly shielded cabling, certain LCD displays, and other wireless devices. Generally, you should try to position your router at a central point of your house while keeping it away from potential sources of interference. Bear in mind that wireless signals can be weakened when passing through materials. Wood and glass will interfere minimally, but metals and concrete can cause severe interference.
